Getting your pool back into service is an essential step to enjoy clear, healthy water. Discover in this article the different steps to get your pool ready after winter.

Wintering: what is it? (Reminder)

Wintering consists of protecting your pool from the basics of winter, protecting the infrastructure but also preserving healthy water to be able to enjoy it when the good weather returns. There are two methods: Active wintering and passive wintering. Different but with a common goal, that of keeping a pool in good condition.

Active wintering

In the case where the filtration was left running throughout the winter (active wintering), getting your pool back in order will be easy and quick, without too much effort. Indeed, you will only need to adjust the filtration time and clean the pool thoroughly. Then, you will have to put back all the accessories you had removed, before checking the pH of your water, and adjusting it if necessary.

Passive wintering

On the other hand, if the wintering was passive, you will have to refurbish your pool by following a few additional steps. Indeed, you will first have to clean your pool (without forgetting the waterline, or the areas around the skimmers).

Steps to follow to restore your swimming pool after wintering

We will distinguish these steps into two parts: Technical and aesthetic.

Technical part

You will need to put the skimmer baskets back in place if you removed them, and raise the water level if you lowered it below the return jets during the winter.

Once in the technical room, the first step is to put the pump and filtration system back in place, depending on your filtration system model. Once you have restarted the motor, remember to check that there are no leaks and that the filter is correctly balanced. If this is not the case and the pressure is insufficient, the pump may be blocked. Then proceed with its complete cleaning.

Otherwise, if the pressure is too high, it is possible that the valves are not all open or that the filter is also dirty. Finally, do not forget to reconnect the trunk if you have a protective shutter.

Aesthetic part

After a period of winterization, your pool will not be in top condition, so you will need to pamper it so that it is ready for the summer season. In order to restore optimal water quality and remove all impurities and deposits present. Once the treatment products have been applied to regulate the pH of the water, all you have to do is let your robotic vacuum cleaner do the work, and your pool will have been restarted.
