With more than 60% of private swimming pools installed each year in France, the fiberglass shell pool has established itself as the go-to solution for homeowners. Its popularity is due to three concrete advantages:
Before choosing your model, here's what you need to know about the available ranges, taxation, and financing options.
The flat bottom range remains the most versatile: constant depth from 1.20 m to 1.55 m over the entire surface of the pool, suitable for swimming as well as games, compatible with all architectural styles. If you have young children, the sloping bottom range (shallow area at 0.95 m on one side, swimming area up to 1.60 m on the other) offers concrete safety without sacrificing adult comfort.
For a small garden or urban terrace, shell mini-pools under 10 m² offer a direct tax advantage: they are exempt from development tax and do not lead to any increase in property tax.
Finally, the integrated shutter roller shutter ranges incorporate the automatic shutter directly into the hull structure, with NF P90-308 standard approval: the most complete solution for families wishing to combine safety, thermal insulation, and aesthetics. To go further, the under-deck integrated shutter roller shutter range conceals the mechanism under the swimming deck: the waterline remains continuous, the swimming surface is maximized, and nothing disrupts the aesthetics of the pool.
Any inground shell pool entails two tax adjustments:
Good news: a temporary 2-year exemption applies in certain municipalities, provided the pool is declared to the tax authorities within 90 days of the completion of the work. After this period, the exemption is permanently lost. Mini-pools of less than 10 m² are not subject to any of these taxes.
The home improvement loan over 7 to 10 years is the most common solution. For a €25,000 project, a 6.5% rate over 10 years represents €284/month for a total credit cost of €9,080. Shortening it to 7 years increases the monthly payment to around €370, but saves nearly €3,000 in interest.
Increasing the personal contribution is the most profitable strategy: each additional €5,000 contribution saves approximately €2,000 in interest over 10 years.
If your mortgage loan represents at least 60% of the total consolidated amount, it is possible to include your pool project in a 180-month loan at a more advantageous rate (3.5-5%). Below this threshold, the operation switches to a consumer credit, subject to the same ceilings as a classic renovation loan.
