The steps for winterizing your swimming pool

You probably know that there are 2 types ofwintering: thepassive wintering, where the operation of the swimming; and theactive wintering, or partial wintering, with your operation swimming in slow motion. For this second type ofwintering, you will therefore need to activate your filtration swimming for 2 or 3 hours a day.
Between cleaning, shutting down the filtration system, or treating the water, here are all the steps for your swimming be ready for thewintering. Steps to be scrupulously followed to find a swimming in excellent condition for the next summer season!

Choose the right time

How do you know when to startwinterizing your pool? To do this, you need to take into account the water temperature: if it is equal to or less than 12°C, you can proceed withwintering.
Carrying outwintering when the water is still too warm means exposing yourself to the risk of the development of micro-organisms, responsible for green water in the spring.

Clean your pool carefully

Perform a thorough cleaning of your pool with the help of your pool robot. The bottom, walls, waterline, steps... everything must be impeccably clean!

Think about the filtration system

With passive wintering, or total wintering, the filtration stops completely. The pool filter must therefore be cleaned carefully, using a specific descaling product.

Opt for shock treatment of your swimming pool water

Before winterizing, the water in your pool must be clean and healthy. To achieve this, choose a shock treatment and adjust the water's pH.

Reduce the water level

Lower the water level to about 10 cm below the return jets. This will prevent problems such as freezing of the water, which could damage the pipes and more generally the structure of your pool.
Be careful not to empty the swimming of all its water! This would damage the structure of the pool.

Stop filtration and install anti-freeze accessories

Close the multiport valve of the pool filter, make sure to properly drain the pump, the filter, as well as the skimmer circuits. Anti-freeze accessories must be installed at this stage.

Put everything away

Some equipment, such as the pump, the diving board, and the pool ladder, must be removed and stored indoors during the winter season.
