What types of lighting are available for your pool?

Pools can be lit in a variety of ways: using spotlights, LEDs, fiber optics or solar lighting. To choose the right lighting for your pool, it’s important to be aware of the different options available on the market. Take the time to find out all you need to know before making your choice, so you can be sure of enhancing your pond with lighting that meets your needs and budget.

Depending on the type of pool you have (wood, traditional, shell or above-ground), there are a number of different possibilities.

Halogen spotlight

Halogen floodlights are essential for your pool. The latter must be chosen even before your pond is built, because of the various standards to which it is subject. Generally integrated into the lining of your pool, this type of lighting is the most widespread and will bring out the color of your pool’s lining. Halogen lamps have an average life of 30,000 hours, making them a very affordable lighting solution.

The LED spotlight

Similar to the halogen floodlight in its operation, the LED floodlight represents a more expensive but more economical alternative in terms of consumption. Many brands offer a range of adjustable colors to give your pond even more originality. Its service life is generally between 50,000 and 100,000 hours. The LED spotlight is therefore a more expensive alternative to buy, but more economical in the long term.

Spotlights

To light your pool, you can also opt for spotlights. Whether installed on the stairs or at the edge of your pool, spotlights are easy to install and highly effective at night.
Spotlights are an interesting option for marking out your pool when installed on stair treads. They provide both safety and aesthetic appeal.

Outdoor spotlight

Placed outside your pool, the spotlight is the most basic solution for lighting your pool effectively. Adjustable in height and position, the spotlights can be used to create a play of light and provide highly effective illumination for your garden.

How much does it cost to light your pool?

Depending on the type of lighting you choose, costs can vary by a factor of three. Spotlights are generally less expensive, but the cost of installation has to be taken into account, whereas halogen spotlights are more expensive.
We recommend that you opt for a solution that meets your needs (aesthetics or safety) but above all your budget, taking into account the longevity of the lighting you choose.
